Peace On Earth 🌏 (Green Sleeves)
I recorded this loop and played over it while warming up for my gig using a Zoom A4 for Cajon and Bass Simulation into a Jam Man looper. It really expresses what I was hearing in my head and what I was feeling. Thank you to Kremona for my Mat Gurman signature custom model guitar, based on the Sofia 63CW.

New Halloween Musical (laugh).
Просмотров 158 месяцев назад
I’ve had this little satire in my head for about 40 years. It’s time to let it out. If you don’t recognize the melody then you are not going to get the joke (which is fine). This channel is for those who don’t take themselves to seriously any way. No pumpkins were hurt in the filming of this satire but a melody was slightly injured! Happy Halloween 🎃.
David Cassidy story on occasion of installation of LV Star Memorial
Просмотров 306Год назад
My wife Kelli and I attended the David Cassidy “Walk of Stars” memorial in 2022 as guest speakers. That event was for the installation of a temporary sidewalk memorial. On the occasion of the permanent installation we are sharing a brief story which shares a little personal experience and insight into the humanity, generosity and character David Cassidy.

Remembering Burt Bacharach (solo guitar).
Просмотров 131Год назад
I wanted to share this recording of my favorite Burt Bacharach song, “What the World Needs Now”. I was feeling my way through the melody and harmony when I recorded this in 2017. I was warming up before a gig I do regularly (KJAZZ Champagne Brunch Cruise). The quality of the sound is not terrific the the simplicity of the arrangement shows what heartfelt genius is in Burt’s melody and harmony. ...

This was a 1992 Guitar Player Magazine submission which was never released as a recording. It got me a feature in the "Is Shred Dead?" August 1992 edition. They said some very kind things including "Mat Gurmanator Gurman explores new musical genres, Prog Fusion with a sense of humor". The original purpose of this demo was as a followup to my "Guitar on the Edge" song "Forgotten". Most of the ot...

Sometimes simplicity with finesse is just the ticket. I was warming up before my gig and decided to play this song which I had not played in a few years. One of the things I love about nylon string guitar is how the space from where you don’t play is often more impactful than the notes you do play. Thank you to the folks at Kremona Guitars🎶.
Rare David Cassidy never aired or seen!

I have been holding on to this since I did this performance with David in 1993. This is the only copy that exists of this performance as the show timed out before we performed. This is a rare glimps into the warm, funny, talented and charming David that I knew. This performance features: Mat Gurman: Guitar/Vocals/Musical Director Mark Levang: Keyboards Billy Hanes: Bass/Vocals Lynn Colter: Drum...

Saint Thomas on Kremona Nylon with EHX KEY 9/MAT GURMAN

Just before the pandemic, I was recording a lot of shows direct and got into using this Electro Harmonics Key 9 keyboard emulator pedal on the Pan setting. It tracks the Kremona Rondo TL GREAT and makes soloing even more fun. This was done during the KKJZ Champagne Brunch Cruise in Marina Del Rey, CA. in 2019, before the live gigs stopped.

This is an excerpt from the solo/improv section of my demo of the KNA AP 2 removable passive instrument pickup. The pickup is recorded straight into the camera with backing track, mixed through a Roland AC33 acoustic amp using no effects or enhancement, simply a playback monitor. The unusually warm sound of the wooden handmade pickup complements the nylon strings on the Kremona Rondo R63 I am p...

What a crime David was not given the opportunity that would have catapulted him into the this style ! I never knew he could sing like this . And if I’m going to be honest .. I might have enjoyed listening to this style much more than a style that chocked him !!!

Whoa....Mat... thank you for this. Your share is very generous especially to all those hundreds of thousands 70s girls from all over the world who had a heart on for David, with teen magazine glossies of him in their bedrooms, listening to 'i think i love you.' Your video took me to others of earlier times as well. We were the greatest generation, in my humble opinion. Smile. Thank you for the joy you've brought me today, you're a special guy. I believe that David must of had to fight so many (don't want to say demons, but more like courses of life for a mega star) issues by the time he was at this point. He appears so regular, like a friend. I believe he made it thru the muck as the Partridge Family and David sort of slipped through the cracks in the next generation. Thank you again.

I appreciate your comments very much. David was like a regular guy during the years I worked with him. He had done a lot of therapy and personal work. Some demons are particularly hard to get past completely and even though his dad was no longer here, the lack of acknowledgement and support for David’s accomplishments really was a big factor in David’s life. Sometime the things that drive us can destroy us. Thanks again.

@@MatGurman Well said Mat. We have all admired people in our lives who didn't even know us and vice versa of course however, i've come to understand that fame and fortune is a huge cost and hard or impossible to recoup. Then when a parent has that status, and all a child or adult child wants is their time it's double-time. Thanks again for the meaningful response.

David started doing this song as an encore in 1991-92. We would leave the stage and then come back on with David wearing a coral colored smoking jacket. I remember wondering when we were going to perform it as we learned it a couple days before we went on tour and then did not do it for the first several shows. Then, when we were doing a concert at “Pleasure Island” (Disney World, FL) when we came back on stage David was wearing the smoking jacket which we had never seen before and we did Cry for the first time.
